As a Financial Professional, I do not discourage the use of credit cards.
As a Financial Professional, I recognize the inevitability of credit cards as a financial trap.
Many people use credit to overextend themselves and live a lifestyle they can not afford. That is not something most people want to hear or recognize as it relates to credit because it will require them to look at their financial habits and spending instincts and make some changes. Or worst for most people, they are forced to accept responsibility for their own financial circumstances. No longer can they blame outside forces for their money woes. Accepting responsibility for bad finances is challenging for many people.
Use of credit to take vacations you can’t afford, buy clothes and items you can’t afford, give gifts you can’t afford is living a lie. The lie feels good in the moment because it feeds the outside perception of others. Unfortunately, credit card debt will force you to tell the truth, accept responsibility and make the sacrifices eventually – and it will super painful. When forced to live in the truth, you will be in tremendous pain, shame and embarrassment. Furthermore, you will be forced to live in that truth far longer than you would have if you had told the truth of “I can’t afford that right now” prior to stepping into the trap of credit card debt.
As a financial Professional, I encourage telling your financial truth.
As a Financial Professional, I encourage living the life you can afford rather than the life you think you deserve.
As a Financial Professional, I want you to avoid the inevitable trap of credit!
